I love shitzu's. I grew up with them running around our house. With their little under bite they have. Your shitzu is really cute till he/she starts peeing on your carpet and furniture. We had a huge problem house training our shitzu's when we where growing up.

Why do Dogs Bark?

Its 3:00am in the mourning and all you can hear outside is the noise of barking dogs. Unlike you, the dog doesn't have to wake up at 6:30am to start getting ready for work. So we ask ourselves why dogs bark.
Dogs bark for a number of reasons:
1. Attract attention
2. Communicate a message
3. or to express excitement
Unlike humans dog can't provide content rich information when "speaking", but that doesn't mean that they are providing just noise. So we ask ourselves what dogs are trying to say when they bark, well there are two types of barking:
1. Warning barking
2. Alarm barking
Warning Bark-
A domesticated dog feels that is must protect not only his territory but your territory. Warning barking usually starts off with a low pitch growling noise and escalates into a howling bark. This bark means that someone is intruding on his territory. To add some fear factor your dog may decided to show his canines.
Alarm Bark-
An alarm bark is exactly what it sounds like an Alarm. This type of bark is used by dogs to let his owners know that something just isn't right. Whether it is someone twisting a door handle outside, someone is walking by the fence, or even cars passing by. The length of the barking can last from a few barks or continuous barking till things appear normal again.
Understanding why a dog barks is the first step in trying to reduce the amount of time your dog barks. Trying to get your dog to stop barking all together is like asking your child not to ever talk.
